Captains Blog…

It has been a very busy September for members at Collingtree Park. So many big events and great results to be proud of.

Handicap League title – An amazing performance from our NGU Handicap League team led by Sam Patel. The team of 6 pairs lined up at Priors Hall to play Wellingborough. Wellingborough have reached the final for the last three years and sent out a strong team to defend their title. All pairs from Collingtree played superbly to win. At the celebration dinner afterwards the team captain from Wellingborough was extremely complimentary about the spirit that the match was played in and how well Collingtree played on the day.

Order of Merit Series – Well done to Neil Abery for winning the OOM. Six rounds of very consistent golf but still needed a decent last round to hold off the field.

Captain’s Day – I decided to make this a celebration day of our champions. We have won some great titles over the last year. Our General Manager, Phil Jones has set up a Champions Wall in the club house to highlight our club’s successes. The Texas scramble was a shotgun start at 8am. The course was shrouded in early mist. When this burned off it turned in to a lovely autumn day. The team of Lamont Montezu, Tony Galloway, James Hayden and Richard Hook took the honours on the day. We had a charity challenge of chipping on to the 18th green. Well done to Mark Hemmings for his ace in this fun event.

Charity – Nick Griffin from the Captain’s Charity KidsAid was delighted to receive another cheque from the club for £1529.80. The running total for the year has reached £4861.60. Thank you to the members for your generosity, it is making a huge difference to the local kids who lives KidsAid have managed to turnaround.

Seniors Open – The Seniors had a full entry for the Autumn Open. It is always super well organised day and proves very popular.

Izzard Trophy – Good luck to our players Andy Billson, Conor Rosling and Jensen Parfitt that will represent Collingtree Park in the Izzard Trophy on 3rd October.
