I hope you managed to catch some sun in August. We had some great golfing days in warm weather.

Summer knockouts are coming to the sharp end. No gimme matches. As all still in have won their way there by right. I have taken a tough stance on extensions to be fair to all.

There has been a bit of confusion over the procedure for taking part in competitions. How to register, hand in scores etc. Our Vice Captain, Catherine has produced a clear document that will be given to all new members. If you want a copy of this then let me know.

The men’s teams playing in the NGU Leagues have had a pretty good month. Our Handicap League team led by Sam Patel are through to the knockout stage of the Handicap League. It is a tough format where 6 pairs play all 18 holes and the total number of holes won and lost produce the result. If just one team has a bad day the whole match can be in jeopardy. 30th August is the final. Good Luck and we will be there to support you.

We had a great day for The Stonhill Founders Trophy. Almost a full field of competitors lined up in a shotgun start. A very tough format of 3 medal scores from teams of 4. More than half the teams broke par with the winning score of 10 under by Jenson Parfitt, Kev Parfitt, Craig Hartwright and Paul Curtis. Well done!

Good to see so many Ladies out for Sue Morgan Trophy last weekend. Well done to Jane Rowe winning on count back.

Some dates for the diary for upcoming events. My Captain’s Day on 19th September. It will be a shotgun start with food after.

Another big day will be the Seniors Open. This is a huge fund raiser for the Captain’s Charity KidsAid. Contributions to the raffle would be gratefully received.

The club is proud to be hosting a European Tour qualifier this year.
